February 2024 - Solidarity

At the heart of the Catholic Church's social teaching lies a profound truth: every human life, regardless of circumstance, bears an inherent and immeasurable dignity.

Solidarity emerges as the cornerstone of this deep and active love. It is the tangible expression of our concern for others, the bridge that connects our compassion to concrete action. It's not merely a fleeting sentiment, as Pope John Paul II clarifies, but a "firm and persevering determination" to work towards the common good - the well-being of all, both as a collective and as individuals. In recognizing our shared humanity, we acknowledge a profound responsibility for one another's welfare.

I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:34-35

Almighty and ever-living God,

Empower Your one human family to join hands on our journey of faith. Send us Your spirit of hope, so that we may work to alleviate human suffering and foster charity and justice in our world.

  • Open our hearts to the suffering and needs of others, especially those marginalized or forgotten.
  • Grant us the wisdom and guidance in discerning how best to serve the common good.
  • Open our eyes to see the needs of this community
  • Cleanse our ears to hear the cries of the poor
  • Anoint our hands and feet to be instruments in fulfilling Your justice
  • Lead those in need to Catholic Charities for encouragement and help

May our solidarity help our neighbors find hope and strength in You, O Lord. Amen.
