Children At The Border

2014 Children at the Border

Catholic Charities Outreach

Catholic Charities agencies in southern border towns, along with many other faith-based groups, are actively providing care and shelter for the children who are lonely, scared and at great risk for human trafficking and other forms of exploitation.

Their outreach is in direct response to Pope Francis' recent call for a humanitarian response where he said, "This humanitarian emergency requires, as a first urgent measure, these children be welcomed and protected".

Here in Pittsburgh, Bishop David Zubik issued a statement that said, "The Catholic Church responds to humanitarian crises here at home and all across the world because we are pro-life. Being pro-life requires we protect and care for vulnerable persons from conception to natural death."

And, The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has issued a report on the "Flight of Unaccompanied Minors to the United States" that looks at the factors that are driving child migration to this country.
