Refugee Services

Catholic Charities has helped to resettle refugees for more than 30 years. All of the individuals and families that are resettled in Pittsburgh have been declared refugees by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and are seeking a new life having faced war, or political, or religious persecution. Refugees have come to us from:

• Southeast Asia
• Cuba
• Africa
• Haiti
• The Middle East
• Eastern Europe
• The Former Soviet Union

Once the refugees arrive in Pittsburgh, Catholic Charities helps with:

• Basic needs
• Housing assistance
• Employment counseling and placement

Over 90% of the refugees who come to Pittsburgh find employment within the first three months of their arrival.
