Senior Services
Catholic Charities county offices provide seniors and their families with information about community resources and connect them to parish-based volunteers who can assist them with emergency basic needs. For Lawrence County seniors, a full spectrum of services is available through our Challenges: Options in Aging program.

Lawrence County Area Agency on Aging
Challenges: Options in Aging program is operated by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, serving residents of Lawrence County since 1974. Challenges seeks to enhance independence and maintain the highest quality of life possible for older adults through its programs and services—community centers, in-home services, and supportive services.
Challenges Centers
Challenges' centers offer a wide variety of educational, recreational and health-related activities to help support the independence of older adults who live in Lawrence County. While many of the activities are free, others require membership.

Challenges offers comprehensive in-home services for Lawrence County residents 60+ to help them remain safely in their own home, which may eliminate their need to move to a nursing home. Income and age requirements may apply. Services with an ( * ) may have a cost to the individual.

A quick response for victims of elder abuse, neglect or exploitation who are in situations of imminent risk. Trained care managers complete a comprehensive review of the elder's needs and resources.
