PATRICIA McCULLOUGH NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH
PITTSBURGH—There will be a press conference on Monday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at Rosalia Center on Clyde Street in Oakland where David O’Brien, president of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities, will introduce Patricia A. McCullough, Esq., as executive director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Mrs. McCullough assumed responsibilities for this position on March 20, 2006. Mrs. McCullough has an exceptional resume and most recently served as a judge in the Court of Common Pleas for Allegheny County in the Family Division. Mr. O’Brien noted, “Mrs. McCullough has a deep dedication to the work of Catholic Charities and will bring great insight and experience to the numerous diocesan-wide programs, service sites, and county offices operated by Catholic Charities.” The work of Catholic Charities has a 95-year legacy of serving the needs of those who live in the six counties of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Last year alone, the agency, as the “social service” arm of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, served 90,448 persons. Bishop Donald W. Wuerl, the Chairman of the Membership of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, noted, “At a time when the number in need continues steadily to increase, Mrs. McCullough is a capable leader for this vital outreach of the Church. She accepts an important responsibility: to continue the work of Catholic Charities as it strives to carry out its many life-saving and life-enhancing initiatives.” Mr. O’Brien also conveyed the Board of Directors’ deepest appreciation to Reverend James S. Ruggiero, who has been acting in the capacity of Interim Executive Director of Catholic Charities. “Father Ruggiero has been an adept leader during this time of transition, and the Board of Directors is greatly appreciative of his willingness to share his time and guidance.” # # # News Release Copy
