For Immediate Release Contact: Mary Ann Krupa Catholic Charities Presents 13th Annual Conference on Aging Pittsburgh - Life: A Sacred Journey is the theme for the 13th annual conference, Wisdom, Age & Grace: A Celebration of Later Life, to be sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh on April 3, 2006, at the Four Points by Sheraton, Pittsburgh North in Mars, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wisdom, Age & Grace: A Celebration of Later Life offers an opportunity for celebration, inspiration and education among older adults; volunteers and professionals in aging ministry; clergy; family caregivers; and anyone interested in growth later in life. The conference will feature a variety of workshops pertaining to the journey that takes place later in life, including: Journey to Optimum Health: Mind, Body and Spirit; Journey Through Life: Good-byes and Hellos; Meditation as a Faithful Companion on the Journey; and Journey to Fun: Line Dancing. Rev. Samuel J. Esposito, M.A., M.Div., will deliver the keynote address Making the Journey: How to Pack for the Trip, which will provide a humorous and reflective look at how we face what life brings our way. Born in Ellwood City, Father Sam grew up in the home of his grandparents. His 17-year ministry in health care included chaplaincies at St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Kane Regional Center in Scott Township and Presbyterian University Hospital. In 1994, Father Sam was named Director of Pastoral Care for UPMC, a position he held until July 2001, when he was assigned as pastor of Good Samaritan Parish in Ambridge. Joining with Catholic Charities as co-sponsors of Wisdom, Age & Grace: A Celebration of Later Life are The Catholic Cemeteries Association; Pittsburgh Mercy Health System; and the Secretariat for Pastoral and Social Concerns, Diocese of Pittsburgh. Registration is $43.00 or $33.00 for participants 62 years of age or older. This includes morning refreshments and a choice of three luncheon entrees. Continuing Education Credits (2.5 CEU's) are available for PA social workers, professional counselors and marriage and family therapists through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. Certificates for Clock Hours for diocesan personnel will be available.
