The Lawrence County Offices of Catholic Charities and Challenges: Options in Aging, the Lawrence County Area Agency on Aging, offer services and programs that meet important needs for individuals and families. Our services are available to everyone in the community without regard to race, religion, age, or gender.

Services and programs provided in Lawrence County are:
Adoption and Foster Care: Helps birth parents who wish to make a plan of adoption for a child as well as families who want to adopt. Supplies training for adopting parents and temporary foster care for children who need a home.
Community Education: Workshops broaden understanding of daily issues and promote healthy living at home and at work.
Counseling: Meets with individuals, children and adolescents, couples, and families. Facilitates support groups. Evening appointments. Sliding fee scale.
Emergency Relief and Tangible Assistance: Helps during emergencies and disasters through CARELine at 800.321.CARE. Facilitates Dollar Energy Fund and CAPS Program which helps to pay utility bills for income-eligible residents.
Interfaith Volunteers: Assist seniors and disabled individuals in maintaining their independence.
Challenges: Options in Aging: Offers a variety of services to senior county residents such as counseling, legal services, educational classes, and respite care.
Pregnancy and Parenting: Provides childbirth, parenting, and life skills education for individuals, couples, families, and groups. Women who are pregnant or who have an infant under the age of 12 months are eligible for free diapers, formula, and clothing through the Women-In-Need Program.

Bereavement Services: Aids those who grieve with healing retreats, counseling, and special memorial services. Call 412.456.6923.
Elderly Services: Aids seniors through information and referral and special projects. Respite Caretakers Program affords time away for individuals who care for the elderly. Parish social ministers are trained volunteers who aid the homebound and elderly. Call 412.456.6915.
Roselia Center: Provides services in a home-like setting in Pittsburgh for young women before and after the births of their children. Offers high school classes that apply toward graduation. Free and confidential pregnancy testing. Help with parenting and adoption options. Call 412.682.4410.
Refugee Services: Resettles refugees and finds them employment through a partnership program involving local families, churches, and employers. Call 412.456.6978.
