Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center Now Open !

Our Mission is to provide excellent primary health care at no cost if you are unable to afford adequate health insurance or are otherwise in need, regardless of religion. Further, if you have no coverage under any other health insurance plan for the services provided by the health care center and you meet income eligibility requirements, you may also qualify for care.

Those eligible for service include working uninsured individuals and their family members whose household income is no greater than 200% of the poverty level and who do not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare.

Services are by appointment only. The Health Care Center is open Monday through Friday from 9am - 4pm. As staffing increases, so will days and hours of operation.

To receive free medical or dental services, you must first be determined eligible for care. In order to be reviewed for eligibility please complete an Eligibility Application and submit it with proof of income to the Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center.

MEET THE STAFF

Dr. Ed Kelly serves as the Volunteer Medical Director. A retired orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Kelly was in private practice for more than 30 years and was formerly on the staff at Mercy and St. Clair hospitals. He received his medical degree from Marquette University. Dr. Kelly also volunteers with Operation Safety Net, a medical ministry to Pittsburgh’s street homeless.

Dr. Willie Manteris is the Center’s Volunteer Dental Director. Dr. Manteris had a private dental practice in New Brighton Beaver County for more than 20 years before he sold his practice in 2002. He received his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and holds two Masters degrees with a focus on human rights, development and peace and conflict studies. Dr. Manteris has traveled with various medical missions organizations and has provided dental care in India, Guatemala and Ecuador.

Diane Redington is the Health Care Center’s administrator. She started her career as a nurse at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital and also worked at St. Francis Medical Center and St. Clair Memorial Hospital. She has held various positions at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield including Director of Decision Support and Director of Network Management. Most recently, she has worked as an independent health care consultant helping clients to develop strategic plans and business development models. Redington has volunteered with Emmaus Community and medical missions in Haiti, El Salvador and Belize.


Kim Banks is a nurse practitioner who serves as clinical director. Prior to coming to the center, Kim was employed at Western Psychiatric Hospital, provided care for nine years in the emergency room at Presbyterian Hospital, and has volunteered with Operation Safety Net.


Maureen Dusch is the clinic’s office manager. Her varied, most recent work experience includes having served as an office manager at a local appraisal company, a flight attendant for US Airways, and as an assistant to a chief operating officer of a health care company. She also bakes the most wonderful cookies!


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
