Counseling

Most of us experience difficulty coping at times. As the problems of daily life build, we may find our relationships strained and our spirits unsettled. We become vulnerable to depression, anxiety, or family crisis.

Professional counseling can halt the runaway stress in your life and restore your strength and self-confidence. Catholic Charities counselors are licensed master's or doctoral level clinicians who treat the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. Sessions for individuals, couples, and families are available on a sliding scale fee in each county served by the agency. Many health insurance plans reimburse for our services. Appointment times vary by county.

Support groups with both psychological and educational components also are offered. Although the groups are offered through specific county offices, residence in a particular county is not required for participation. The support groups are:

  • TransParenting teaches parents how to help their children cope with divorce (Beaver County)
  • Child Abuse Treatment and Prevention Group for adult perpetrators of child abuse (Beaver County)
  • Domestic Violence Treatment and Prevention men's and women's groups (Beaver County)
  • Surviving and Thriving after Divorce, a group program for men and women to learn to cope effectively with the stresses of divorce. Dates and times for groups vary and will be listed on the agency's "Events" page.
  • Project Anger, a group program for men and women who want to manage anger effectively. (Allegheny County)
  • Rachel's Vineyard, a post-abortion healing group led by a therapist and a spiritual director (Allegheny County and Beaver County)
  • Survivors of Sexual Abuse (Washington County)
