Butler County

The Butler County Office of Catholic Charities offers services and programs that meet important needs for individuals and families. Our services are available to everyone in the community without regard to race, religion, age, or gender.

Services and programs provided in Butler County are:

Homeless Assistance Program
Emergency Shelter: Provides shelter for homeless individuals for a limited number of days in a local motel.
Case Management: Provides ongoing case management to help solve homeless situations and offers assistance in locating housing. This program also provides referrals to other agencies to locate housing, furniture, clothing, etc.
Homeless Pantry: Access to tangible items, including free clothing and toiletry items.

Housing Assistance Program
Rental Assistance: Provides financial assistance to individuals who are being evicted, are at least one month behind in rent, or are requesting assistance with first month’s rent.
Case Management: Caseworkers assist individuals in developing a realistic service plan to outline steps to reach goals for self-sufficiency and stable housing.
Mortgage Assistance: Provides a one month mortgage payment to individuals that are in jeopardy of foreclosure on their home.

Family Therapy Program
Counseling Services are provided at the Butler office and at St. Ferdinand’s Church in Cranberry Township with evening hours available at both locations. Individual, group, couples and family counseling are available.
Parenting and Pregnancy Program: Provides counseling, support, assistance, life skills education and parenting guidance to individuals, couples and families.

PATH Transitional-Age Project
PATH provides permanent supportive housing for homeless 18 – 24 year olds with co-occurring mental health and drug and alcohol issues. The PATH Project provides housing for its participants with 9 one-bedroom apartments in the community. The program includes rental subsidies, case management, vocational and educational assistance, life skills training, and other support services.

HOPE Program
Catholic Charities provides Life Skills Services to chronically homeless individuals with MH and/or DA issues at scattered sites in the community in this collaborative effort between Catholic Charities, Center for Community Resources and Grapevine Center. The Hope Program provides housing for its participants with 18 one-bedroom apartments in the community.

Project Women in Need
Project WIN is designed to assist low income women and their families with free and confidential pregnancy testing, counseling and case management, educational materials on pregnancy and parenting, support, life skills education, and access to our baby pantry to receive free tangible items, such as diapers, formula, clothing and other baby care items.

Utility Assistance Program
Provides utility assistance in conjunction with the Utility Single Point of Contact (USPOC) at the Center for Community Resources. This assistance may include Dollar Energy Fund, deliverable fuel, or other utility assistance.

Adoption and Foster Care Services
Birth parents who wish to make a plan of adoption for a child can find help as can families who want to adopt. Temporary foster care and training for adoptive parents is also available.

Other Services at Catholic Charities
Network Referral Services: Catholic Charities provides information and referrals to assist individuals in locating other specialized services and items.

Eligibility Requirements
Any resident of Butler County, regardless of race, religion, age, or gender may receive services. Requirements are as follows: (for housing and homeless programs)
  •  Must be a resident of Butler County for a minimum of thirty days
  •  Must be at least 18 years of age
  •  Must meet income eligibility guidelines

Fees
All of Catholic Charities’ programs are provided free of charge to individuals, with the exception of the Family Therapy Program. Fees for the Family Therapy Program are based on household income.
